From I Survived Hurricane Katrina, 2005: All Barry could see as he clung to the tree was water. The water had washed away his whole neighborhood. He tried hard not to imagine what had happened to his mom and dad and little sister, Cleo. What if they'd all fallen into the water too? What if... Barry was shaking now. Then he heard a new sound, a cracking and groaning. He stared in shock at what was floating in the water. A house. Moving slowly, turning. Its blown-out windows seemed to stare at Barry. The splintered wood looked like teeth in a wide-open mouth. And it was coming right at him.

In this book, I Survived Hurricane Katrina, 2005, a kid named Barry and his family lived in New Orleans. They heard that a hurricane was coming so they decided they were going to leave town, but then Barry’s sister got sick so they had to go back and wait it out. When they got back, they went to sleep, but when they woke up there was water in their house. They went up to the attic where Barry’s dad stores an ax. He then used the ax to break the roof so they can go on top of the roof. Barry falls of the roof and is separated from his family. Will Barry survive this horrific hurricane? Read this book to find out.Barry is brave and nice, because he was very brave after he fell off the roof, and he did everything he could to try and make it back to his family. He is nice because he helped Abe’s dog even after Abe was being mean to him. The moral of the story is to expect the unexpected, and always be prepared for any situation. This book was good because it kept me interested. They put surprising parts in the book that make you feel many emotions. For example, I felt sad when he was separated from his family, then I felt happy when he helped his enemy’s dog. I would recommend this book because it is very interesting how Barry and his family try to survive this horrific hurricane.Jim6th Grade Student

woah :o!! i'm your biggest fan!!! :D Could you make a book with the name hunter in it i honestly don't care how you do it like a ship or a person preferably please and thank you so much. oh i forgot to say that i am mind blown right now because you have most best ideas on planet earth. I have a suggestion about the challenger rocket exploded for another i survived book and I hope that my suggestion was good and thank you for letting me have the opportunity to say something because other authors make my review least helpful even when it has at least 4 paragraphs. so again thank you for the opportunity to speak. (p.s. this is by a 9 year old who started to read i survived books when i was 3 years old.)

I bought this book for my grandson and we read it together. The story has important themes about family, perseverance, courage, helping each other as well as friendship and tragedy. I heartily recommend this book. Young readers don't know about Hurricane Katrina and this is an important part of our nation's history. The author writes with engaging descriptions and emotion.

This book was purchased as a gift for a 9 year old. He was quite excited to receive it, especially since this story references events during his year of birth. The larger series is also popular with his friends, and they share comments about which books they like the best. These books are well written to hold the attention of youngsters, so I am very pleased.

My grandson loves these books we read one every night before bed. You are a very good writer and my grandson and I both enjoy reading your books together. He is 7.Yvygfgyvhygyfyuygytfjygyygguvfy. T iyf yf y tyuv yf the yf but yf yf yfu yf y yf but yfu FF yf yf the yf jyf iyf jyf u try gu

I read this book to my first grader as a way to talk about the 2017 hurricanes. She enjoyed the book and learned some new vocabulary words.

Ten-year-old boy absolutely loved this harrowing tale about Hurricane Katrina. He didn't want to put the book down. He gave the 5-star rating.

The "I Survived" series of books have been a huge hit with my Grandkids. Both my grandson 8 and my granddaughter 12 love them. Informative, exciting, educational and well written. Lot's of action, heart and adventure. What more can you ask for. My grandson does not like to read but he will read these and Diary of a Wimpy Kid over and over again. My granddaughter loves to read and will re-read this series as well as the "Cementary Road " series by Kate Klise. Both get an A+ from me.Enjoy
