About the Author
Ellen Giangiordano is a wife and mother of five children who is an attorney by training. When Ellen's oldest turned eight ten years ago, Ellen searched mightily, but could not find, a book that fit the following criteria: 100% Catholic; easy to understand; appropriate for personal reading by a child after the initial presentation by the parent. Not finding such a book anywhere, Ellen decided to write Wonderfully Made! Babies. In an earlier season of her life not filled with children, Ellen practiced litigation at a large law firm in Philadelphia, and then taught Law in Society as an adjunct professor at Temple University, Fox School of Business.

This book was really well done. The pictures are simple and not overly graphic. I appreciated that common language was used as well religious language. I also felt the author was clear about the relationship between man, woman, and God and why marriage is important. I recommend that you set aside about an hour and read through the entire book at once -- I couldn't imagine trying to break it up and it's really not necessary. The only reason this didn't get 5 stars for me is because I wish there had been more information about menstruation/body changes for girls and body changes and natural things to expect with boys -- maybe a couple of follow-up books would be in order. With that in mind - I think this book for my kids would have been ok at age 7 or 8 vs. the recommended age 9 -- but it's certainly parent/child dependent. Again, overall, it was a great way to start those conversations and something I know that we will revisit from time to time as they learn and have more questions.
Scripturally based, theologically sound, refreshingly positive. Focuses on the beauty, the gift, the precious bond of marital love. Honors JPII's Theology of the Body. So many books on this topic fall short; this one is just what we were looking for.
Love this book! I am a strong Catholic who had no real idea how to bring this up with my son. I love the detail the author used, the illustrations, and the way that we are learning together. Thank you so much for writing this book!
Beautifully and thoughtfully done. Gives kids just the right amount of information in an age appropriate way. I've recommended this to all of our friends with kids approaching the age where this topic needs to be discussed.
If I could rate this book, with more than 10 stars, I would. This book really helped me and my 11 year old daughter to discuss, in the most natural and beautiful way, how babies are made. Thank God for books like this. My whole admiration from a new fan in Guatemala. Hopefully there will be a Spanish translation soon.
My boys are 11 and 12 and I am a single mother. I thought the book might be too simplistic for them but it was actually very helpful and made it easy to have the conversation with them. I actually learned some beautiful things about our faith.
