I keep on dreaming and wishing this series would never end because I want to live in Doon forever, but I also want to get to the end to see my beloved characters get their well deserved happy endings.Just like Doon and Destined for Doon, the world building is so great and well written that I feel like I'm one of the Doonians. From the breathtaking scenery, the gorgeous gowns, the castles, and the food... Doon is without a doubt one of my favorite fictional places to visit.I love the character and relationship development in this series. There's a sense of growth, maturity and understanding. From Doon to Shades of Doon.. through the ups and downs, each of the characters have grown into their own and have become stronger.I don't think I've mentioned it before but one of the things I love about this series is Veronica and Mackenna's friendship. Seriously can you say friendship goals...Even with their own handsome princes and personal problems Vee and Kenna never forget to emphasize how important they are to each other. They may bicker, disagree, and fight, but at the end of the day, Vee and Kenna have each other's back and would do anything to protect each other.All the other characters also have an amazing bond and friendship with each other. Jamie and Duncan would also do anything to protect each other. They may not show their brotherly affection all the time but it's there. Fergus and Fiona are so adorable in their own ways. Analisa is strong and opinionated, but very devoted to Doon and her friends. Oh Eoran... the ever so loyal guard who would do anything for Vee shows a sensitive fatherly side of him. Seriously the whole gang is pretty much #squadgoals! (Maybe they have room for one more... Ahhh if only)The plot is fast paced and kept me turning the pages way past my bedtime. I enjoyed the few chapters in the modern world. It was fun and seeing Jamie's first time in the modern world was such a nice treat. Seriously can he get anymore adorable and hot?!?!? I love that there was more romance, but it totally didn't take over the story. Princes coming to the rescue, declarations of love and swoon worthy make-out sessions just added to the awesomeness. I did predict something about the necklace that turned out to be true, but everything else surprised me. Those last few chapters seriously kept me on the edge and put me on so much anguish... I wanted to stop reading afraid of what would happen next, but I couldna because I wanted to know. I wanted to throw the book and rip out the pages because my heart was breaking but I had to keep reading... when I got to the last page... I could finally breathe.. a little. But now I'm sooo ready. Addie, you evil evil witch, my squad is coming for you! Good always win and Love Trumps hate. (yes I just did that...)I can't wait to read Forever Doon and I have it so I don't have to wait cause waiting would drive me crazy...Shades of Doon is full of adventure, magic, humor, romance and suspense. A story about friendship, love, loss, faith and courage. Such an awesome and fun read that I really cannot say anything bad about this book or this series!!!
The Doon series is endearing itself to me more and more. Shades of Doon is a great read, full of drama and uncertainty and opportunities for the main characters to grow. I love how the two heroines are obviously maturing as they see the bigger picture: what's really important and what it might cost to choose the right path.The faith element, while still somewhat subtle in parts, is becoming stronger as the series continues. This particular story inspires courageous living, tackles the weighty topics of sacrifice and humility, and provides plenty of adventure and danger (particularly with the cliffhanger ending).As for the relationships and romance...I found myself intrigued by the dilemmas facing the couples, and I'm enjoying their journeys. Their interactions are full of passionate care and hope. I'm eager to see where the next challenges take them!You'll definitely want to read the first two books in the series before diving into this one. And once you're finished, you'll be beyond ready for the final book in the series, Forever Doon. I know I am!
Review for Shades of Doon by Carie Corp and Lorie Langdon The third installment in the Doon series was one of my most anticipated reads of 2015. I loved it, but in some ways I was disappointed. I don’t think it was as good as the first two books. As a matter of fact, I think everything started going downhill after Doon.Don’t get me wrong, the books aren’t bad. In fact, they are still very good. But little things here and there just start to bug me until it all adds up to a less-than-enjoyable reading experience. So I’ll start with what I didn’t like (don’t worry- this is spoiler free, besides what you can already know from reading the book’s synopsis). First is the amount of time spent in the modern world. The situations and plot started reminding me of a YA contemporary. And if this were a YA contemporary, it would be a good one, but the whole reason I fell in love with Doon in the first place was the rich fantasy world it contained. I just feel like this book didn’t deliver with more of that. I feel like the series is declining because it’s becoming too modernized, with slang and references everywhere. Kenna really started to annoy me with her “Holy Hammerstein!â€s all the time, and the amount of times the word “bestie†is used makes me want to gag. It seems as though this book is taking the next step down into middle-grade reading. The last thing that bugged me was the antagonist. Those who have read the first two books know all about this villainous witch, who somehow keeps coming back over and over and over. I just feel like the antagonist is way too predictable and cliché. There’s nothing really scary about her, and no matter how hard the authors try to make plot twists in this book, it just doesn’t work. The antagonist is a very shallow, unlovable, or even likable character.Now that all that negative stuff is out of the way, let’s talk about the good things. Mostly, Jamie and Duncan. These two are some of my favorite male characters, and I loved them in this book. They were both sweet and smart and overall perfect Prince Charmings. I also really loved Vee and her character development. We get to see her transform into this majestic, powerful queen, and it’s wonderful. Not only is she a strong and confident character, but she realizes that she has weaknesses and that she can’t do everything by herself. Vee learns to accept that there is no queen if there is no kingdom and is the perfect blend between independent and dependent on other people. I got little shivers during some of her particularly motivating scenes.Overall, I think this book was good, but not as magical as the first or even second book. The plot felt a bit rushed at times and slow during others, and was quite predictable. The real excitement didn’t happen until the end of the book, which of course ended on a huge cliffhanger. I would still recommend it to lovers of the series because it feels great to be back in Vee and Kenna’s world again. The familiarity of the characters and Doon itself is very cozy and welcoming. It was a quick read that took me through a rollercoaster of emotions, and I enjoyed it.

The Book of Madness is both extremely disturbing and inspiring. Lee is a master of the fine line between What's real and what's not and all the in between. How she manages to infuse tragedies with little bits of humor and whimsy is a wonder... and a pleasure!

This four-book series is linked by the milieu of Paradys, a city that's not so much a fictional analogue of Paris as a distillation of the Decadent, Gothic, and romantic aspects of its image. Populated by vain noblemen with decaying mansions, unappreciated poets drinking in darkened taverns, and lunatics locked into cruel asylums, Paradys is a perfect setting for the brand of lush, ornate horror that is, I think, the most distinctive of the many modes in which Tanith Lee writes. In both style and substance writing of this type can seem exaggerated, ludicrous, but for those on the right wavelength it captures something of the glittering intensity of obsession, a state of mind in which the exaggerated and the ludicrous seem natural, are in fact the only way to express one's heightened awareness."Darkness closed on Paradys. But the night City was no worse, no more impenetrable, than a night in the country. This too had its own strange sounds, its own pitfalls, and generally the City gave more light than the forests, hills and fields, which were lit only by fire-flies, fungus, stars and moon. The City moon was made of dull plate, but lower down other luminosities shone out. High round windows in various towers of a college where the students pored late over huge books and parchments, dim bars of light behind iron grills and panes of sheep-skin. Sometimes, at the gates of a fine house, or along the river and its bridges, torches flashed on poles. But on the lower bank the hovels crowded to each other in sympathy, darkling, though here and there an occasional fire bloomed on stones in the street."The Book of the Damned is made up of two short novels and a novella, unlinked in narrative terms but sharing recurrent motifs of duality, mutable gender, and romantic obsession. In "Stained with Crimson," the poet Andre St. Jean becomes infatuated with a mysterious noblewoman, but as you might expect the consummation of his desire comes at a terrible price, trapping Andre in a cycle of lust, violence, and revenge from which escape may take a very long time. In "Empires of Azure," Louis de Jenier, who makes a living and finds an obscure satisfaction in imitating women on the stage, rents a house in Paradys that proves already occupied, by a ghostly female presence to which he is fatally drawn.These are fine stories, but the highlight of the first volume is "Malice in Saffron," an especially dark and disturbing meditation on such ambiguous distinctions as male/female and good/evil. Jehanine escapes a physically and sexually abusive stepfather to join her half-brother Pierre, the only remotely good person in her life, in Paradys. But her reception is not what she expects, and Jehanine soon carries out a cruel revenge whose consequences will come to haunt her. With nowhere else to go, she finds a bifurcated life in Paradys: by day the female Jhane, novice of the convent called the Nunnery of the Angel, and by night the male Jehan, leader of a band of thieves that terrorizes the city. Her existence has the febrile quality of a dream or a delusion, as pregnant with meaning as an allegory yet more potent in its fearsome strangeness than flatly symbolic fiction. Plague, satanic mysticism, festival, and a horrifying sacrifice are some of the components of this harrowing short novel."He had of course lost himself on emerging from his apartment. There were no lights anywhere, only the worm-runs of windowless corridors on which the occasional door obtruded. Now and then, from perversity, he had tried these doors. Three gave access to barren chambers, empty of nearly anything. One had a shuttered window, another a candle-branch standing on the floor. (The branch was of iron, worth little. The candle-stubs had long ago been devoured by vermin.) A few other doors resisted his impulse. He fancied they were stuck rather than locked. Presently he reached an ascending stair he was certain he had not seen on entry with the hag. He paused in irritated perplexity, wondering if it would be worthwhile to climb. Just then a woman appeared and went across the stair-top, evidently negotiating the corridor which ran parallel to that below."She did not carry a candle, and that he saw her at all was due to his own light, and the pallor of her hair and skin which caught it. Her gown was of some sombre stuff, high-waisted as was now not always the fashion, and she held her hands joined under her breast. A stiff silver net contained her hair; it glittered sharply once as she glided by. That was all. She was gone literally in that flash. Her face he did not really see, yet her slightness, something about her, made him think her girlish."Come to Paradys to pursue his education, Raoulin finds himself more interested in this woman-- this ghost, as he suspects-- of the ancient, decrepit house where he has taken a room. A disturbing experience with a local prostitute only increases his certainty that there is a story to be discovered, and eventually, he finds the woman and encourages her to tell it. Once she was Helise la Valle, daughter of one noble house and promised to marry into another, the d'Uscarets. Ignorant of what will come on her wedding night and overhearing whispers of some terrible rumor about her new husband's family, Helise waits in fear. But what happens after the ceremony, and what she does to stop it, are not quite the Gothic cliche one might be expecting.It's true, though, that a curse haunts the d'Uscaret line, a curse the novel eventually traces back to Roman times, when the city was known as Par Dis, and a soldier called Vusca received a strange gift. Following the story of The Book of the Beast back in time has its fascinations, even though the core of it, once revealed, is not terribly complicated. Vusca's story is especially evocative. When the narrative returns to the present for its resolution, the thread of interest is lost, but the luxuriant, slightly antiquated flow of Lee's language carries it through to a satisfying conclusion."Paradys too has its cemeteries, its little graveyards tucked out of sight, its greater yards of death that hug the churches, the cathedral that is called a Temple. It has its places of graves, between the houses in sudden alleys. Between the paving stones, here and there you may look down and see a name that paves the way, a date of beginning and the other of surcease. Even under the house floors now and then they will raise a carpet and a board and point you a grave: Sylvie sleeps here, or Marcelin. Paradys is a city of the dead as she is a city of the live, the half-live, the undead, and perhaps the deathless."The Book of the Dead is a short story collection, its tales of the city linked by the cemetery in which the characters have been laid to rest. Generally I'm a great fan of Lee's short fiction, so it was a surprise to find this the weakest of the four Paradys books. None of the stories are bad, but without the elaborate structure of the longer works set in the city, they aren't particularly atmospheric, and too often the resolutions are disappointingly simple. "The Weasel Bride" carefully builds up a mystery about the tragic events of a wedding night, but its solution is a familiar, and rather crude, piece of folk mythology. "The Nightmare's Tale" is nicely written, but the Haitian voodoo on which it builds is too lodged in the popular imagination to become truly threatening.Despite their limitations, a few of the stories make for pleasant minor reading. "Beautiful Lady" offers a nice, if ultimately irrelevant, twist on a basic concept, and the interplay between the eccentric, unsettling siblings who explain the history of "Morcara's Room" is far more interesting than the history itself. Perhaps the ultimate failing of the collection is that it doesn't consistently capture the particular mixture of eroticism, fantasy, and horror that makes Paradys a fascinating place to read about."It was early afternoon, but as ever the daytime City was enveloped in gray mist. The sun had been invisible for years. The architecture of the City itself-- decayed, ruinous, romantic, and depressing by turns-- was visible in shifting patches, or regularly to a distance of seven meters. And above, the Terrace of Birds began to form around a single dot of light-- which would be Smara's lamp. That is, he doubted anyone else would have climbed up here. Only the kindness of some of her fellow inmates might save her from the stupidity of the guards and the indifference of the sole doctor.Subtle interactions among these storylines emphasize their parallels, but for the most part they function separately as stories of the tragic dignity of insanity. The interlocking structure gives a sense of great scope to a comparatively short novel whose stories are, taken individually, not all that complicated, and the sympathetic treatment of madness provides an appropriately moving conclusion to a series that has dealt with overwhelming emotion in all its wonderful and terrible forms. Paradys is as much a state of mind as a city, and we all go there from time to time. The Secret Books of Paradys is an excellent dark fantasy series, and an example of Tanith Lee's most striking and passionate work.
I'm very glad the Paradys series has been reprinted in a single book, as newer Tanith Lee fans like myself can find it easier and brand new. All the books are set in the city of Paradys, an alternate, very dark version of Paris. This is one of the best series by Lee, I think it compiles all the qualities that made me like Lee in the first place. Much like the Flat Earth series, the combination of suspense, erotism, dark fantasy and horror, each administered in its right dose, makes the books very appealing. But let's go one by one:The Book of the Damned: it presents 3 unlinked novellas depicting 3 very different characters. The first story, Stained with Crimson, is a gothic vampire story, but not your regular vampire story, presented with such beauty, decadence and wit that it is a winner. Malice in Saffron, the second story is, I think, the best of the lot, where we follow a young girl, Jehanine, going from victim to exeecutioner. This one has it all: it's gory, sensual, over the top and adventurous. Story #3, Empires of Azure I didn't like it much, it's set in a modern-day Paradys and it reads more like a detective story with fantasy tones, but I think it was too messy in the end.The book of the Beast: This is the book I liked the least, but that doesn't mean it's not a good one. Divided in two books (the green book and the amethyst book), it tells the story of a centuries-old curse set upon a family. Told in reverse chronological order, the green book is set in a renaissance Paradys, while the amethyst book is set in a Roman-time Paradys. This is probably the darkest book of them all.The book of the Dead: This book is a collection of short stories set in Paradys. Each story has an introduction which gives the feel of a tourist guide in Paradys' graveyard, hence the book's name. I believe this is the book fans think it's the weakest, but it's the one I read the quickest, as I always like more the short fiction by Lee than her books. But it's easy to see the reason of the fans' dislike. The stories are sometimes very loosely based in Paradys, and don't offer much in terms of the Paradys mythology. Still, there's some good stories in here, best of the lot must be The Moon is a Mask (vampire owls, deffinitely different), Beautiful Lady (presenting a Typhoid Mary-like sory), and Morcara's Room (very good, ironic story).The book of the Mad: This presents 3 different stories set in different places (Paradis, Paradise and Paradys) and times, which, as the novel progresses, they become interlinked with each other. This was my favourite book of the four, as all 3 stories are very enthralling (although Smara and Felion's story is a bit uneven at times), and the linking is magistrally done.In the end, this is a wonderful series which deserves to be rediscovered by old Tanith Lee fans and if someone is a neophyte on her work, this is one of the books I'd suggest reading first.
The story begins with Raolin Darksbane. He is staying in a haunted house, and he meets the ghost and learns her story and then becomes infected himself with the curse. The story then follows the exploits of a jewish exorcist and goes back to Roman Paradys where the curse begins. The story goes forward and then it goes back. I liked the story of the "doomed" Heloise and her strange destiny, intricately linked with the story of cupid and Physche and what happens if you look closer at things that you are not supposed to look at. I also liked the story of the roman soldier, his dilemma between looking life and destroying the curse once and for all. Great descriptions, you could almost hear the trumpets at the roman fort as the Roman soldier stayed up and awake to await the beast. The ending seemed rushed to me, the exorcism seemed like the easy way out and the spirituality of it left me tired and lost. But a good story.

Once again Robert Bevan has cranked out a hot load of pure WIN. Honestly, he can't write these fast enough for me. Yes the humor is rude and crude and a ton of fun! The wacky shenanigans these poor gamers get into is ridiculous, but I would watch a movie or better yet a tv series of these guys religiously. So please, Netflix or HBO or even Dead Gentleman, get this author the recognition he deserves. Thankee Mr. Bevan for several more hours of entertainment.
But get ready for a few great S-words, like... Stacy (hello, nurse!), FIRE SWORD!, and Tim starring as Simba in a Cooper production of The Lion King.Critical Failures III brings us back on a merry chase with our favorite dysfunctional protagonists as they attempt to reach Mordred. As always, there's more failure than success, but that doesn't stop our intrepid band of do-gooders!With a few new members added to the cast, and the growth and (surprising) development of some of the old members, CF III: A Storm of S-words does not disappoint. The same great humor all around in this volume, you'll once more catch yourself trying not to laugh uncontrollably on the tram or in the office. Yet another book from Robert Bevan that you just cannot put down.Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to pop Critical Failures I back open, and read them all again in eager anticipation of any future misadventures....
I am in serious trouble when I read this series - I start laughing out loud, spill food , pound the table and generally make a nuisance of myself in public as a result of being so engrossed in the content. The humor is ...well the best way I can put it is crude, witty, sarcastic and something that all of us at one point or another felt like saying or doing but were held back by societal conditioning. There has yet to be a book or short story in this series that I have put down once I started the first page. I savor every one of them like fine wine and try to extend the short stories (also can be picked up on kindle - a must read btw) until critical failures #4 come out. This beats Games of Thrones for me as a seris- seriously wicked comedy in a fantasy setting. Please please release the next book!
At the end of Critical Failures II, I found myself wondering if this was going to be a short series. It seemed like the story had painted itself into a corner and things were going to wrap up quickly. Well, the good news is, it didn't. The great news is that at the end of this book, I still found myself wanting more. When George R.R. Martin introduces a new character these days, everyone groans. When the Caverns and Creatures tale grows in the telling...let's just say it's going to be a bad day to be a half-orc's loincloth, but a good day for anyone who has a strong stomach and enjoys tabletop role-playing games.
It just keeps getting better and better. If you haven't read any of the books, go look up Robert Bevan and read them all. Tons of short stories in between, and you'll be completely hooked. Well... I mean, if you have the humor of a typical 12 year old boy, which lets be honest who doesn't at least chuckle a little at raunchy potty humor? Aside from that, he writes amazing characters, you'll even find yourself super interested in the lives of the secondary characters. You also don't have to be into table top RPGs or know what that is to appreciate the series. It might get you into them though!! One of my new favorite series. Easy and fun to read! Can't wait for book 4. (Disclaimer: I wouldn't actually recommend letting your 12 year old son read it without checking it out first. I would let my 12 year old son read it if I had one, because I teach high school reading and I know these books would get a 12 year old hooked on reading.) Ok. I'll stop talking now. Bye. Get all the books!!!!
The action picks up right where book two left off (I won't say what to avoid spoilers). I love the initial scenes at the Chicken Hut and the subsequent segment at the poison control center - that is easily the best scene in the entire book. I had to stop reading I was laughing so hard.Ginfizzle the Halfling from book two makes a reappearance here, giving the boys some trouble as he runs wild through the streets of Mississippi. In addition to undead halflings, the gang also attracts the attention of the cops, upping the stakes and throwing a wrench into their (admittedly improvised) plan.I was happy to see a few female characters get a significant amount of screen time - Katherine, Tim's sister who first showed up in book one, and Stacy, the lab assistant from the Poison Control Center.Like the first two novels, the gross-out level here is high and it is the biggest reason behind me not giving these books more stars.

When I was reading this book, I was quite shocked to see that when I reached page 89, the following page was 119. The book skipped 33 entire pages. Not only that, but after reading pages 119-150, they REPEATED pages 119-150. So, not only was I missing 33 pages, but 41 pages were repeated in the space of my missing pages. A huge chunk of the book was missing, not even having been ripped out, but the book was bound like that. The content I was able to read was very interesting, although nothing new to any other books I've read about Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan.
In 1887, Annie Sullivan (age 20) goes to Alabama to try to teach Helen Keller (age 6, who is deaf and blind) how to communicate. Told from Annie's point of view, it talks about her struggles before moving to Alabama from Massachusetts, and what her life was like before she had surgery to restore her own eyesight. Helen proves very difficult to teach. Her family has spoiled her and inadvertently reinforced that crying and being physically violent is the way to get what she wants, because they can't bear to see her upset. It is mostly a story about frustration, emotional turmoil, and feeling defeated; however, it has a bright ending, as we already know the outcome of Annie Sullivan's time spent teaching Helen Keller.I like how each chapter begins with an except from actual letters written by Annie Sullivan, documenting her challenges and time spent with Helen Keller.I would probably recommend this novel to girls. It's major themes are perseverance and success in the face of adversity, and accepting others who are different or have a handicap.
Twenty-year-old, half-blind, fiery tempered Annie Sullivan is on her way to Tuscumbia, Alabama to teach six-year-old Helen Keller, who has been deaf, blind, and mute from the young age of 19 months. After she arrives in Tuscumbia, Annie meets Helen's kindly, but desperate mother, Kate Keller.After Annie's first encounter with her obstinate little pupil, she is unsure whether she can breakthrough to Helen. After her first lesson, Helen does not seem to understand that d-o-l-l means the word "doll." Kate seems disappointed, but Annie assures her that it is natural for her daughter not to relize the meaning yet, though Annie feels a bit the same as Kate.Next, Annie wants to teach Helen obedience. Because her parents can't stand to punish her, Helen has remained a tyrant for almost five years. Annie is sure that with a firm hand, she can teach her student how to behave. But her first attemp comes to an abrupt halt after Helen knocks out on of Annie's teeth. Only pain keeps her from continuing the lesson.Now Annie is intent on breaking Helen's appalling table manners. First, she muster enough courage to discpline Helen in front of her employers. After along battle over teaching her pupil to eat from her own plate with a spoon, and fold her own napkin, Annie breaks down.Annie is sure that it is useless for to teach Helen language or anything else under the Kellers' spectical eyes. She asks that Kellers if she and Helen can live somewhere else with. The Kellers consent to letting the pair live in the small garden house where Helen was born. After a few weeks, Annie manages to teach Helen manners, but not that everytime she spells something to Helen that it is the name of an object, tought, or idea. Annie is disappointed when the Kellers insist on having their daughter back, but she has no choice.After the two go back to the main house, Helen begins to act up. Annie knows that she must discipline Helen, but she is afraid that it might get her fired. When she does try to punish Helen, Helen's father, Captain Keller, does not agree with her methods. Annie is infuriated, and explodes in rage. Luckily, Helen's doting aunt, Ev, convinces Annie to stay, and Annie does.Annie is still trying to break into Helen's silent night, but she is afraid that she is not experienced enough to do the job. Will Annie breakthrough to Helen, or will she become a failure, and Helen live an empty life? Buy the book and read it, and you will find the word that changed world history.The cover also has the title in Braille. I was excited to get this series for my son and read them together. But there are too many intense and gory fight scenes that describe decapitations, pools of blood and violent attacks. Very disappointed. Should not be rated for such a young age group.
These books have my son (just turned 8) completely hooked on reading. Although he is a strong reader, he struggled a bit with the vocabulary in these books. In order to get him some momentum, we took turns reading chapters of the first book out-loud until he wanted to keep going without me. Now I get updates as to what is going on with the dragons. I like that they are challenging and I think he is learning quite a bit of new vocabulary. They have a fairly mature tone and some scenes are quite violent / graphic in nature, but he wasn't bothered by it.
My daughter (whom just turned 9 @ the end of November) and I love these books.We mistakenly bought book 10 and 11 at her school book fair, to which I told her we just cant start at book 10.So we bought these, and we are going through them every 2 weeks at the most.We just ordered the next few for her birthday and the rest for Christmas.Its fantastic because we are both into them and it makes a great bonding experience.- There is a lot of detail going on, so I also got her the graphic novel of the 1st one which helped her understand more of what was going on.-There is violence; but there is also diplomacy-There is creepy; but there is also beautyIt's just like the real world with having its ugliness and its beauty.It has empathy, strong female characters, and so much more.This author is amazing.
I read the first five books to my daughter many years ago and wanted to read them again. The public library has them but I wanted to own them. When I found Amazon had them I was thrilled! I recommend these awesome dragon tales to any and all of you who love to read about the beginning of dragon eggs to the hatching to the adventures of dragons. A rating of 5 for excellent reading.
My 12yo daughter loves these books. She has been reading books far above her reading level, wanted a break so bought these for her. She read one book every night...EASY read, she said, but she loved the story.

My 10 year old daughter LOVES this series of books!! She likes the way they are written and finds herself lost in the world if dragons.As a parent, I couldn't be happier as it's really helped her become a stronger, quicker reader. Definitely recommend them!
My son loves these books!! I should give it a one star because of the sleep disturbance it is causing him--up way too late reading with a flashlight when we think he is asleep--but who doesn't love when their kids love reading? I've even started the first one and haven't minded reading it.
