I’m a bit surprised, I’m only 23% into the book and the number of spelling errors is abundant. Did no one take the time to proofread before it was published? Info so far is okay, I’ve gotten the same from investopedia site for free. Some concepts are confusing because the author mixes up buy/sell put/call option strategies mid sentence so it can be hard to follow at times. Wish there was some better strategy examples that included lower priced stocks and options to work with rather than $8k-$10k option investments. Not everyone wants to dump $10k when their beginning to learn options.
A very informative book. Have a great overview of Option Trading, it provides basic information that are really important for beginners. There are sample worksheets to help you get started. It will give you also some strategies to avoid beginner mistakes and techniques for making the best of bad situation. Great read.

Toward the Sea of Freedom is an interesting historical novel on the British policy of shipping people off to Australia for minor offenses such as stealing a loaf of bread to avoid starving. I have read other books on this topic but this is the first one to address how the Australian convicts escaped to New Zealand and began new lives in that country. The book also manages to bring in a decent account of Maori culture. The treatment of women as accepted policy of the times was also deeply involved. I liked the book and felt that I gained some new knowledge. The story was captivating and I found it hard to put down.
Enjoyed this book. It's a great tale of adventure and romance but for me it lacked detail, also if you have read her trilogy you will find some of the story repeats itself as it deals with similar themes. Nevertheless a pleasant read.
Absolutely loved every page. I love the full descriptive writing of Sarah Lark, I felt the hunger in Ireland and smelt the appalling conditions people lived in with Kathleen and Micheal. I walked through the streets of London with Lizzie and watched the disillusion of that time. Australia was a new beginning even at the end of the world. But the New Zealand part of the book, I was so pleased with the correct descriptions and history of my country when it was first settled. I struggled to put this book down and in fact kept reading until the wee hours of the morning, it was amazing until the very end. I have not read a book this good in a very long time.
As a New Zealander I appreciated the dedication and accuracy that Sara Lark has put into the research for this book. I was pleasantly surprised, because the Maori culture has many different facets but I think she incorporated their way of life very well and describing the breaking in of the land in Canterbury and other parts of the country resonates with the way the women worked and often brought up large families. It wasn’t an easy life by any means. They were strong and resilient women and were often not treated with the respect they deserved, it was very much a man’s world! The gold digging rush is very pertinent to New Zealand and I think she depicted this very well, so true that the Maori new where to ‘tap into the gold’ they knew the land before the Paheka came. I enjoyed the storyline and I’m glad all the characters sorted themselves out in the end. Highly recommend and I’ll read more of her books.
Sarah Lark writes about people you would care about and want to know their stories. I have enjoyed all of her books that I have read and look forward to more. Learning about Australia and New Zealand, geographically and historically is a treat, even more so through the use of the characters she created. Looking forward to more. Thank you!.

This story kept y interest from the first chapter. How we overcome adversity and love on is amazing. You get a real sense of the hardship our forefathers had to overcome to make a living. Woman especially had a rough time yet gained strength and moved on. The characters are very well developed. The storyline well developed. Would highly recommend this for anyone who likes historical romance type novels.

A really nice piece of work that I am sure will be timeless. This is a great introduction of Eastern Sufism up until the time of Ibn 'Arabi. Put this together with 'The Mystics of al-Andalus' by Dr. Casewit and you'll have a really great understanding of the intellectual history of both Western and Eastern Sufism. Afterwich, Ibn 'Arabi, Rumi, and others come to dominate the scene further building on their Sufi predecessors.This book lays out all the major developments in early Sufism, really a great gem.
I am a seeker on the spiritual path, on which I embarked only a few years ago. Trying to read and absorb, but with a full time job and other commitments time is an issue. This book is fantastic in that it brings so many of the great Sufi expositions in a condensed version. This book has exposed me to so much which otherwise I would have missed. Recommend this to all serious truth seekers.

The Little Kids First Big Books are fantastic! I have purchased several. There is so much interesting information in them! I have them at my house to read to my grandsons when they visit, but I have had adults just sit and read them and they love them! I have even purchased a few for my father to have at his house when the great-grandchildren are there! He loves them too!
Fantastic. Full of interesting ideas, questions, answers and activities. A gift for my 5 year old nephew - he is forever asking "how..." I think this will keep him coming back for more and more ideas. Some/most of the information is way beyond him now, but the book is thoughtfully designed so that even younger children can look at pictures, get a few answers, and then return for more depth.
This gift was for the first child of a young teacher! She was so excited that National Geographic has books focused on a child's learning she could hardly believe it. She is looking forward to having their other books for her child.
We own other versions of this series (Space and Dinosaurs). My child likes the book, but age-wise more fits 5/6-8, versus "4-8". Generally, an interesting book for adults and kids.
Really nice book for the 6-10 year old to read / enjoy with family
This book is very well made. Thick pages, and great pictures. The info contained in this book will help teach my grandson a lot of things and helps his parents sometimes to answer questions in a way that a 5-year-old can understand. I recommend to anyone who wants to help their child or grandchild learn more.
Purchased this for my 6 year old twin granddaughters who have shown an interest in science. It was overlooked a bit during the Christmas rush but a few days later one of them brought it out and wanted me to help her read it. I soon had both girls and their 11 year old brother listening, asking questions, and participating in some of the activities. I even learned a few new things! It’s a great book for explaining various aspects of science to kids.

Fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi was a huge deal back in the 1980s and 1990s. I say that very confidently because as a kid growing up back then I remember his name being mentioned frequently when Joan Rivers would ask on the red carpet "Who are you wearing?". And while he might not be dressing the A-List crowd as much anymore, he is still involved in the fashion world and he also has found a place in front of the camera on various tv shows. Definitely fair to say there is a lot of creativity flowing through his veins.I'll admit, I mainly wanted to read this book to hear some good fashion world stories. I was impressed he was able to make Anna Wintour sound almost human rather than the cold image she normally presents to the rest of the world. And I thought it was really cool he not only got to meet his idol, Liza Minnelli, but also strike up a friendship. I found it fascinating that seemingly overnight celebrities just started expecting to get free clothes from designers to wear to events and how that is the norm now. For sure my favorite parts of the book involved just random stuff about celebrities.I did find myself bored from time to time with the first half of the book. His childhood growing up as a gay male in a Syrian Jewish family was certainly fascinating but there were parts that dragged on a bit. I did enjoy the parts of the book that explored his relationship with his parents and his siblings and their families. His relationship with his mother in particular sounds supportive in some sense but also complicated. I'm glad he included what it was like living in New York at the height of the AIDS epidemic. It seems like too many people have long forgotten what a scary and difficult time period that was so it was good to hear his perspective.I read an advance copy of this book and was disappointed that the Golden Globes groping incident with Scarlett Johansson was not mentioned. It got big press back in 2006 and it seems like such a glaring omission to not have some sort of explanation in the book especially living in the #metoo era. I really do hope his thoughts on the matter find their way into this book before it's published.Overall, I do recommend this book not only if you are a fan of his but also he really is a unique individual so if you like memoirs this is a pretty safe bet.I won a free copy of this book but was under no obligation to post a review. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
I knew I would love this book, because I already love watching Isaac on QVC, especially with Shawn K. when she has to ask him the definition of an unfamiliar word he used when he was speaking to her. It is always good to learn new words - it makes us better Scrabble players. I can tell that Isaac inherited his love of the English language from his mother. I just love reading about her, knowing how she positively shaped his life. And the painful parts of his life's story make him relatable to the rest of us, even though he is a celebrity. But you will laugh out loud on every page that you read. Like I said in the review title, I knew it would be a wonderful read.

I.M. is a most beautiful book. What rises to the surface is Isaac's enduring creativity, curiosity and fortitude. There was a comment by someone that they wanted the book to have more fashion stories. There are lots of them. But the point of the book to me was how Isaac used little daily pleasures in life like food and taxis and dogs to get through all the struggles of his challenging career. You will not be disappointed!
I'm a long-time reader of memoirs and have found there are two types. One is a "slash-and-burn tell-all"; mean, venal, and usually intended to get back at someone in the memoir-writer's life. These books tend to make for ultimately tiresome reading as the rancor gets in the way of any kind of balanced portrayals. The other kind of memoir is a more gentle, less vicious look at the memoir-writer; his life and the influences of others on that life. Isaac Mizrahi's book, "I.M.: A Memoir" is definitely the second type.Isaac Mizrahi is a noted clothing designer who has dazzled the fashion world with his work. But like many designers, he is a man of many talents. He is also a man with many life influences, including his Syrian-Jewish upbringing, his struggle with his weight, his homosexuality and how he's dealt with it, a life-time of depression he's been able to keep at bay, and his seeming intense enjoyment of his life and work. In his book he writes about his family - parents and two older sisters - and the Brooklyn Syrian-Jewish community he grew up in. His mother was his main fashion influence, encouraged him to attend the Preforming Arts High School, and has been a huge booster of his career. His father's acceptance was somewhat more difficult; Isaac's early "differences" from the other children and his artiness made the father-son connection tenuous. When Isaac's father told him he loved him right before his death, it was an important moment in his life.Mizrahi's book highlights his work and how his designs have developed over the years. His business life was often his personal life and Mizrahi has some great anecdotes of the people important in his life. His book is surprisingly kind to others while honest about himself. Of course, readers must trust the memoir-writer's truthfulness. And not only truthfulness, but trust in the writer's appraisal of his own nature. Isaac Mizrahi seems like a perceptive and honest writer and his book is quite enjoyable reading.I'm only awarding the book four stars instead of five because it lacks any pictures of Isaac Mizrahi and the people in his life and the designs he's made. I came across an article on-line from the Daily Mail which reviewed the book and published quite a few pictures that should have been in the book.

What a story! Beautifully written with exquisite detail (he describes fabric like other writers describe food) and true emotional weight. It's like the juiciest novel, something conjured up by Judith Krantz, except it's true. One of the best memoirs I have read in a long time. It says so much about family, love, finding yourself, no giving up. Truly excellent.
